SOLD.This is the Giles Stage 4 pump that was used in my infamous 1997 Golf 1.6/1.9TD Franken project and also in 935racer (Dave @ Passenger Performance)'s 1992 Jetta 1.6TD that dynoed 192 wheel horsepower (
video here) with 100% stock injectors. This was a super-conservative dyno machine and it'll read over 200whp on another dyno!
This pump can be adjusted to be tame enough for a non-turbo 1.6, and aggressive enough for a 200 wheel horsepower 1.6 TD.
You can also expect improved fuel economy in normal driving conditions.
Giles makes the best VW TD pumps. I'm living a busy married life and I no longer have a TD.. at least not for a while. Thus the Giles pump is up for sale. The pump only has around 10,000km (6,200mi) on it. It has been sitting on a shelf for several months.
Make an offer. It was originally purchased for $950 + tax, but
I'm open to offers. :)The buyer does not have to pay taxes; it will be shipped out of B.C. Canada or Washington, USA, depending on your address.
You can PM me or e-mail me at
[email protected]
I received a couple offers already. I expect to finalize the sale within the next 2 days. If you want to try and make an offer, now's the time.
The pump will be shipped Monday (for US residents, USPS Priority) or Sunday (for Canadian residents, Canada Post Expedited).

daves car only made 187 Ft Lbs of torque? that seems a bit weak. really really weak actually. i thought diesels were supposed to have something like twice the torque as they have power?

The 1.9's do. The 1.6 is a different beast. It's actually quite similar to a gasser in it's power delivery. The bottom end wouldn't hold up to 400 ft lbs even if you could somehow get it.

Dave wanted to make more HP in the upper RPM range. He ran a large turbo that didn't produce much boost at low RPM, so not much torque there. Too much torque would've broken the engine, and 187 ft-lb out of a 1.6L isn't bad at all. I used the same Giles pump in my 1.6/1.9TD with a smaller GT20 turbo that boosted almost instantly and the low RPM torque was good.
The sale is pending to saurkraut.
The pump is sold.
I will put up an all-aluminum air/water intercooler for sale in a couple weeks (it's based on the factory TDI intercooler core).
