I think there is a relay in the dash that is acting up.
Start the car - head lights sometimes aren't on... rev it a bit and they USUALLY come on...
sometimes they wont. If i press the light switch to the left of the steering wheel they will always turn on.
More and more lately after starting I'll hear what sounds like a relay flicking on and off and the head lights will flash or DIM accordingly to the clicking in the dash.
At first i thought it was my GP switch arcing and killing power to everything but then i realized it goes to a relay in the engine bay and i wouldn't hear that over the clatter from inside the car.
Which relay controls the head lights and does this sound like a burnt out (burning out) relay?
The battery light is also on. It dims while driving sometimes. Flickers from time to time.
I'm thinking the alt. might not be making the voltage to power the relays... hence the battery light. hence the flickering and or dim batt light. hence the lights coming on with rpm.
EFF another overly expensive repair if i need to replace that hunk-o-junk.
KEY WORDS: "sometimes" and "usually"
Any thoughts that it might be voltage regulator related? pretty please be that.
Since you're hearing a relay clicking during this wackyness I'd recommend you start with the load reduction or "X" relay... often starts to wig out over time, since it's carrying alot of the car's electrical load.
Which one is that? does it have an "x" printed on it?
