What's the cheapest way to do this? Hardware store dishwasher/water heater hose with brass fittings tapped for the turbo?
anything that would be rated for oil and heat would work.
i wouldn't use something that is not rated for oil
Good luck cheaping out on this. From my experience with oil lines, I have found that if you don't do this properly, they will leak and you'll have a mess all over the engine. Either get the oem parts or go to a hydraulics shop to have them make you a replacement (which will probably cost more than sourcing oem parts).
nah, the hydraulic shop I went to, made up a line, brazed an AN fitting onto the stub of drain I had(pretty much just the flange for the turbo) and got me all the fittings to plumb it into the pan for $40 or so.
right now my drain is barb fittings and oil cooler hose, we will see how well it works, but since it is not under pressure it should be fine.
go talk to the people at your local parts store and see if they have any oil cooler line, its rated for heat and oil and pressure.
