hello
i will see a golf 1 that has been parked on the outside for a while but the owner says the only problem is the fuse box.
can i make it run by some way?
i thought that with the help of another car i could heat the glow plugs and then just run a wire directly from the battery to the pump.
can i have some problems doing this?will it work?
Sure, that will work. Just make sure that the jumper cables are REALLY LARGE !! One lead from the Batt pos to the fuel shut-off solenoid, and one to the glow plug side of the glow plug fuse. Leave the glow plugs wired up for 30 to 45 seconds, or for just 10 to 15 seconds if they are the fast kind.
Wind that sucker up for no more than 30 seconds at a time, with 5 min pauses to let the starter motor cool.
Hopfully, the "bad fuse box" is not so screwwed up that it will take out something else. Remove the wires from the fuel solenoid and the glow plug fuse before jumping them.
Good Luck !
Remove the wires from the fuel solenoid and the glow plug fuse before jumping them.
sorry,didnt understand this part.
if i remove the line to the solenoid it wont start or am i wrong?
I think he's concerned about power traveling back down the line,
from the glow plugs
or from the stop solenoid,
back to the messed-up fuse box.
So he's suggesting you disconnect the stock wiring connections,
before hooking them up to the battery.
ok,thanks.
lets see tomorrow if it worth it
