I'm wondering if anyone has ever installed a wind deflector above their rear window & if it kept your rear free of gooo. I've seen a few references to this goo & know its from the 2 drop/wk that comes from my collective leakable bits & the massive localized low pressure weather system that follows me everywhere i go...
I suppose anyone with a rear window wiper would be in the same boat.
You're talking about a spoiler? I never saw one on a vanagon, maybe something like what some suburbans have would work. It's a near vertical piece with a slight curve to it and it scoops air from above the car and shoots it down along the back of the vehicle.
I put a spoiler on my rabbit, the kind that would give the air coming over the top a slight kick upward. The idea was to keep the back window clean, didn't work for that but it looks good so I left it on, the 3M two sided tape has held good for over a year now.
I've never seen one on a Golf, but had them on some North American station wagons, and they work great. Don't know if there is negative effect for drag or aerodynamics. Are they available as a bolt on for the Golf?
I doubt they're still available , I've never seen one like this before. I got mine off a mk2 golf and had to cut about 4 inches out of the middle so it'd fit. Also it would be a hard bolt on, originally it bolted on with three molded in studs that poked THROUGH the rear window of the golf. So then you'd need a special window.
