Ok I ran all the numbers with the tires I have and my transmission it says I will be doing from 55-57 MPH at 3000 RPM.
My engine is an AAZ that is intercooled and I have a large oil cooler with a fan .
Will this rpm range be ok for the AAZ engine or do I need to work on lowering it more.
Is that fast enough for highway cruising where you're at?
Going less than 60-65 round here is scary.

the lower you the RPMs the better IMO, down to about 1800 or so.
Wa state Mostly for the entire state the speed limit is 60 or 65. Except for I90 where it is 70. I cruise between 60-65 everywhere I go. If I were living back in cali I may consider that dangerous. But here its kind of the flow of things.
a guy i know with a tdi in his westfalia had his transmission regeared

that is an option, but a very expensive option if you don't do it yourself. 5th gear swaps are a good idea, but if you can find a TDI box for relatively cheap, then go with that. tall 5th gears are usually hard to find, and aren't really cheap.

This is true the lower the better, but that doesnt mean you can't go higher! lol These engines are not weak, it will handle being run at 3000 without a problem. Its the same long term effect for any engine, gas or diesel. Running high RPM's constantly will take out your rings and cause you bad mileage.
Other than the mileage you should be ok

you might want to look in to a 5th gear swap as stated earlier

hope it works out
Im running an auto box so its a little more to it than a regear. Just going to stuff as big of rubber under there as I can fit.

The Anti-Christ.. lmao
I see, so what about getting a diff trans? say maybe a 5-speed? lol

Thats what I would do as well.
Auto's rock as far as I'm concerned...
eventually I may. I just need to get it reliable first. Im into this conversion many a thousand so far. So I need to find a cheaper solution than gearing or a transmission conversion

one of my goals in life is to take a vw diesel autobox, and CNC some super tall gears for it, and then test it out with a torquey 1.9TDI
i doubt it would last too long... it would almost require some motor oil or something thick with a huuuuge tranny cooler  cryo treated pretty much everything in there too! i always have to link to
this video when talking about auto's
