WTT: 1992 jetta with coilovers FOR complete IDI engine?

Anyone got any interest in this?
I got a 1992 Jetta GL, 1.8 gasser 5 speed.
runs fine, it is mostly stripped (undercoating cleaned, no front doorpanels)
but also has some nice bits (VMAXX coils) and nice red stripe late dash.
Heres the bad news:
Its in darn Florida!!!
(and probably not worth the money to ship!)
But, I'd trade for a complete IDI engine, 1.6-1.9.
Any interest? I might consider a trade for a pile of really good parts!
I can take pics if anyone wants, but I figure this is a total shot in the dark.
(and likely not worth the effort!)

hmmmm, I could get a complete 1.6, but its burried under snow, and I would have to get it to you somehow. Im up for a road trip, but florida is a bit of a drive from here in BC. When the snow melts I'll check the engine out.

Wanna go for a road trip matt? lol
We would have to build a small trailer just to get the engine down there.
Its only a 2 day drive nonstop.....
Bump anyways.

If you have to wait for the snow to melt to find the engine,
I may not be interested...
(just kidding! a good motor is a good motor!)
I was just throwing it against the wall,
I figured the title would get a lot of hits,
and then many people would say "Oh damn, Florida??"
Sorry, its not my fault I am here and you are there
(though, in my defense, if I was there I would have no trouble acquiring an engine!)
The car is not without its faults,
It has a small hole in the gas tank (in the top corner)
and the AC is not there,
and the interior is a bit bare.
if there is any interest, ill take pics!

yeah, I know,
but so far, the interest has been limited geographically to British Columbia,
which is not far from putting us at opposite ends of the North American continent!
Ill take my camera to the shop tomorrow and see what I can do!

Heres a few pics for you....
It was painted olive drab green, with a rattle can from an army/navy store.
The car is totally straight as an arrow!
I could not find a single dent, ding, or speck of rust. (good car to put a TD in!)
It has a lot of interesting bits I will be leaving:
DTM mirrors, FORGE motorsport window cranks, GLI rubber spoiler,
Sparco racing harness, Eurosport rear box, etc....
Let me know!
Thanks for looking!

There is no rust. Not even the floor? I have a 1.6L in my old jetta that if you wanted I might do it. Is it drivable? The 1.6 needs rings, and maybe an IP build, but as is it runs right now...St James City, FL is only about 19 hours non stop, but I don't know to where you are at

I did not see any, but I also did not really look for any.
If rust in the floors is a concern,
I can get under there and look, and take some pics with it up on the lift.
I still need to swap the front coilovers as well.
I would not recommend driving it on a long trip, as there is a hole in the gas tank which means you dont want to fill it over about half of a tank.
I have also not had this car long enough to speak on its reliability.
I really really want a turbo engine.

I've got a shot in the dark back at you
a 4-door 85 golf with a TD block setup as an NA - about 6K on the engine
alpine white with some rust on the body, dings and dents but big bumpered
the motor is complete but not without its problems, needs rings as it is low on compression and a new injector hard line.
I'll throw some pics your way if you have any interest
I just need something I don't have to throw nickles and dimes at every day and my car just needs some TLC from someone not a 20-credit-a-semester student
on the positive side, I am in the southern tip of NC and love road trips.

Looks like the roll ups were FORGE motorsport from his other post
I guess too I should state that the 1.6L that I have is NA but I still like the idea of trading if I could get it here and the engine there.

Jake:
I certainly like the idea of trading for a whole car instead of a motor,
and I REALLY like the TD block,
but you should know this one is also not perfect (arent they all)
known problems:
-hole in the gas tank
Unknown problems:
-unknown.
for what it is worth.
I have only owned this car for a month, and probably only drove 30-40 miles on it.
Those miles went well,
but I dont know enough to speak well for it.

Well Brad I do appreciate the honesty, I know no old VW is without its quirks especially the unknown ones
On the diagnostics side of things,
Does it leak anything (other than gas from the tank)?
Any luck with the rust check? How do the rear strut towers look?
Does it feel solid when driving? Track straight down the road? Brakes feel/look good?
