Have you checked local engine rebuilding maching shops?
That's where I found the cleveite sets.
Local and the best price I can find.
Walk in with a part number.

Yep, tried all the local motor factors, tried the local engine builders, even tried to contact clevite direct, VW don't list them...
I ended up getting some from a tuning company, they only sold the unfinished ones though, and by the time I had them fitted and line bored it was not a cheap operation!
I was just thinking if I could get some finished ones it would make my life a load easier!

Okay, I need some more, and after last years polarva Im dreading doing the ring around again.
Is anyone willing to post me a couple of finished sets out to the UK?
I take it the AAZ is the same as the 1.6 ones?

for around $23.00Cdn
Python Parts, in Toronto, sells the "Dura Bond for 23.09
Don't know if either of them ship internationally, though.

Here are my two Intermediate shaft installation and removal tools. I had them made up by a machinist friend of mine. The larger diameter needs to be slightly less than the outside of the bearing and the smaller diameter portion needs to be slightly smaller than the inside of the bearing. There needs to be two as the bearings are different sizes. The all thread threads into the center part of the tool and is long enough to extend out of the block. A piece of flat with a hole in it along with another 3 nuts on the end of the shaft are used. Two of the three nuts are just locked together on the all thread and used to hold the all thread from turning. The other nut is turned against the plate with the hole it it to pull the tool and the bearings out and in. The tool can be used to remove and replace the bearings at the same time.

Hi all, Merry Christmas, the bearings on my engine are made with a split opposite the oil hole! are the replacements solid?, i thought that the oil groove was damage, so i took the bearings out [unfortunatly i did'nt write the part numbers down!!]. I got them back in correctly[thanks to this thread].

The parts interchange number for Federal Mogul is listed on the pic of the Dura-bond bearings:
1726M is the Federal Mogul one.

Are all the numbers listed on this box for pre-sized bearings? I am looking at getting the Federal-Moguls but I need to know they are pre-sized.

they are...i've used the Dura-bond ones before in a couple motors...no issues...
Need to order another set as a matter of fact for the new mTDI build.
