been discussed a lot, use the search function.
I recall that the aaz was a upgrade for hydraulic motors, but don't expect a big difference like if it would on a gasser, not much clearance on a diesel.
on a gasser you have 230º and you can fit a 280 or even 300º cam before any mods for extra clearance, on a diesel you have 190º and the absolute limit is around 210º, so you can hardly feel the difference.

dave aka 935racer makes perf cams. gains aren't incredible, but apparently they help reduce egt's? then you increase the fueling more

The pre-91 1.6 cam is the best. I put one in my AAZ.

I just went to the shed, two hydraulic "L" grinds

in the car is a AMC mechanical head with a "D" grind cam
I searched and its a 1.9NA cam, dropped in favor of the AAZ one.
bummer

So what does that mean?
The 1.6 hyd cam is still the best option?
At least unless you have PP make one then your still iffy..

I was just stating that.
as far as I know there are 4 IDI grinds:
068109101B - mechanical 1.5 and 1.6
068109101L - hydraulic 1.6
028109101D -1Y, replaced by the aaz one
028109101G -AAZ
does anybody has data on them? I searched and found only AAZ

I doubt there would be much benefits to find as valve overlap is not going to be any good, not without holes in the pistons.

Is a solid lifter cam interchangeable with a Hydraulic type?
