does anyone have a guide to fixing this? or atleast some helpful pictures before i just dive into it? I am getting fuel seeping outta the throttle flange on top, I believe that is what is causing my hard starts so I need to get it fixed.
this is a 92 1.6td.
thanks!
look up "Gov Mod" in the FAQ and follow those steps to get where the seal is located.
so I swapped out the top portion with another IP I had in the garage, seemed to go ok (who the hell invented the two spring setup for the throttle spring?)
but now my idle is low....like 500 rpm almost stalling low, I believe I got the throttle setup key'd in the right spot, I also tried screwing in the idle stop screw more, but that does not bring the idle up enough.
What do you suggest is the best way to approach adjusting the idle speed? Does the bolt adjuster on the right side of the pump adjust this as well? I noticed the assembly I put on this stop was not screwed in as much.....
thanks!
Hey vern...not sure if that's a good reaction or not.. :?
Anyways, here's another page i have archived that shows the throttle bushing removal on a renault 1.6l IP that is almost the same as the VW's....the throttle bushing removal and install should be the same. This page has nice pics of the whole rebuild process of 1 1.6l IP pump..

I already got the throttle unit replaced(replaced with another top portion from another spare pump I had).
As stated in my second reply, does anyone know the proper way to set the idle rpm on these? My car is idling at 500 rpm with the manual choke lever in.....
