no ecu,the engine is mechanical. You can add a turbo ,but to get more fuel under boost you will need a different pump,if you want it to run proper.you can run without "boost enrichment",but you will smoke when not under boost.tap the oil pan for drain and the oil filter housing for feed, schaabam!

Haha sound easy. what boost can these cars run? is it the same engine as a turbo diesel minus the turbo? What would i need to get it to run just like a stock turbo diesel 1991 jetta? Thanks alot!

The turbo diesel engine has oil squirters under the pistons which stand for oil cooled pistons... the piston material is different and the IP.
You can definitely add turbo to a normal diesel engine if you are not going crazyy with the boost!
You need a turbo IP and a Garett T3 or a KKK k-24... these are the two turbos that came as stock... you can also add an IC which was stock in the GTD version... but that was under the hood, go for the front mounted IC; its always better!

If you want reliability id stay in the stock 8-10lbs.The t3 and k24 is capable of 25lbs.Start thinking of some other kinds of cooling.Oil as well as charge.

THERE HARD TO FIND AND ALITTLE PRICY BUT ID VOTE FOR THE 1.9aaz DIESEL TURBO ENGINE.
IF NOT FIND A 1.6TD ENGINE....CODE mf OR SO ON
GET A ROBERT BENTLEY TOO...IT'S THE MANUAL OF CHOICE FOR VOLKS AROUND HERE!

perfect thats very simple so no making new mounts? How about the cv axles would i need different ones or would the originals work? Also how big of a difference in power is the TD 1.6 compared to just the diesel. Thanks!
