Shell V-Power diesel

Anyone here use it? I went and filled up a few minutes ago. I stood there, venting and filling until there was fuel at the very top of the filler neck. I managed to pump in 51.4 liters at a cost of $80.32! The fuel gauge was only just hitting the red area before I filled up. Shell's website for the V-Power diesel says it has a cetane booster (nice!), extra cleaning additives, a de-icer and a corrosion inhibiter. It was only 3 cents per liter more than their 'regular' diesel fuel. Curiously, if I drive to the nearest gas station to where I live that has diesel, the price per liter is $1.559 per liter, if I drive an extra 10 minutes away I can get the V-Power diesel at only 1 cent per liter more than the nearest diesel fuel to where I live, plus I get those neat benefits too! I hear the price of fuel is going up tonight so that's mainly why I decided to fill the tank as much as possible tonight.

i've tried shell's premium diesel before... just doesn't feel the same as sunoco's gold diesel. i use power service anyways... that stuff is a good cetane booster.

I was reading through some UK based forums and some people say that the UK V-Power diesel is a synthetic fuel, or partly synthetic fuel that has some Gas-To-Liquid components in it. Hmm, synthetic fuel, I'm intrigued! I wonder if the Canadian V-Power diesel is the same?

I noticed less smoke with V-power out of all the fuels I've tried. I can't comment on mileage though. I did switch to the Stanadyne lubricant at the same time I tried V-power though so it may have been that.

There is a sunoco station around here that used to put cheaper gas into it's ultra 94 tank. I had a high compression 2L 8v rabbit that was very sensitive to octane ratings. After filling up with "94" one day, it immediated started detonating. A few years later, (after never going there again) I kinda had to fill up there, this time with diesel. I tried their ultra diesel, and without question, it made less power and more smoke than the sunoco ultra diesel I normally purchased from another station.
Unscrupulous!

Why doesnt Esso have diesel at most stations?
I can report a difference in engine roughness using Sunoco Gold too..
Id like to think that my best option here in ontario is V-power
where does someone looking, find a better diesel in ontario?
what's it called? I heard of B100....
What is race diesel's octane or name?

best diesel by far in Ontario is the Shell V power.
sunoco is all right,
esso diesel, which is rare and hard to find is like running furnace oil in your car, it makes mine smoke, and run really rough.
huskey diesel is really high in sulphur, but burns ecxellent, although the fumes tend to sting the eyes.
I've not run pioneer diesel in my car yet, although they are the cheapest in barrie by far, usually about 3 cents less then shell low-grade, I guess i don;t use it because there gasoline was really ***ty and made my 91 Jimmy knock hard.

A few months ago I was wondering about gas stations and the cetane rating that their diesel has.
These are the only responses I got from customer service. I emailed a few others, but never had a response. Something to keep in mind: The minimum cetane rating diesel must have in Canada is 40.

Also, I have never seen V-Power diesel at any shell stations here. They do however have "Ultra Diesel". I enquired about this a while ago and it has the exact same cetane rating as their regular diesel.
