I have a 2004 Passat which has had a slight studder on the hwy around
60mph. Dealer has no answer. Does anyone have a suggestion
Change the timing, fuel quantity and EGR settings in the ECU, and see if that changes anything. If that doesn't work, then change the overpriced injectors.
There is an unknown tech bulletin on those . I think it's because the ECU is allowing too much EGR at certain rpms . The quick easy fix is to replace the gasket at the output of the EGR valve with one with a very small hole. Find a metal gasket with a hole about 1 cm instead of 1 inch.
or just completely eliminate the egr... it will only lead to an early death for your car. the nice carbon bits will wreck smooth bearing surfaces.
You could eleminate but it'll set of the MIL. Restricing it will cause enough for the MAF to sense the change and think everything's okay. You won't stop all the coking but most.
