Oil blowing everywhere. Yes again I had to rebuild the motor. The idiot used 40 over rings in the motor with 50 over pistons. Definitley dropped the compression but ultimately failed. Now I have the right rings and all the power I remember but oil is blowing out the breather and the dipstick tube. I am using the baffle plate but the breather is non-stock filter. If I use a hose too much oil flows to the air filter.
Compression is about 440 across the motor and I have good oilpressure on the gage. Oil gets real black quick. New oil and filter going in tonight. Running standard 30 or 40 weight oil. Should I try 50 weight??
Any pics of the Tee Fitting to the block off plate would be nice. I can fab that in no time if I knew how the hoses run.

If this is a 1.6 it's the plate beside the vacuum pump, tied into the top breather hose. Ideally you want it before the oil baffle (1.6 TD cylinder thing on top of VC) using a AAZ or TDI baffle but it might work afterwards although it will most likely effect your crank pressure.
eitherway, you shouldn't need this.
Did you rebuild the engine or a shop?
A really bad shop rebuilt it several times. The last time I got it back and the compression was barely 350. After less than 5000 miles I was below 225 and could not run. When I opened the motor I found Oil Squirters in the oil pan, loose mainbolts and several bad threads on all bolts. I have no confidense in the VW machine shops near me.
With 30 years wrenching I measured, honed and reassembled the motor with the right rings and many new bolts. It runs great but there is way too much back pressure. The vent top blows hard and the oil dip tube sprays oil on the hood. I have heard this same complaint from many of the Samurai conversions. With the motor as worn as it is I will probably be swapping in a 1.9 and using my 1.6 turbo setup. Power is no longer a problem as much as reliability and MPG. I am getting about 35 MPG now with 30 inch tires. Pretty good for me. The constant oil dripping is no good. Driveway is really looking bad now.
