Ok, now I'm pissed
« on: May 24, 2008, 05:26:40 pm »
The day before yesterday I had fuel leaking out the timing advance(cold start) as the clip had come off. I stayed up late fixing it and replacing the o-ring under the cover. Today I go take it for a drive and start smelling diesel again. I pull over to look and it is pouring fuel out again as the new clip was nowhere to be seen. Luckily I was able to jam a screwdriver in to hold the seal in place.
Is it supposed to have a c clip or snap ring? I had put a c clip on, and maybe the internal pressure is too much for it? I'm almost ready to drill and tap the shaft for a bolt to hold it in place.

It's been awhile, but there is a C clip there.....as I recall. Perhaps it fractured as you installed it and then fell apart after awhile????
The mask and the shot(s) are actually an IQ test. If you are wearing or circulating, you just failed the test. I can't feel sorry for you.

Weird thing is I never touched the original. It just vanished. Then the replacement didn't last an hour before it was gone as well.

Ok, think I got it figured out. There was supposed to be a washer between the linkage and e clop. Without it, there was probably too much leverage on the clip, allowing it to be bent.
