Hey. Just wached Motorweek, and they had the new Mercedes E320 CDI being reviewed. I saw this car at the Detroit autoshow. I think we may see more cars like this returning to the US as we finally get low sulfur diesel. The car is rather impressive... even though it's not a VW

It uses a Common-Rail Direct Injection system.
Engine 3.2L Inline-6 diesel engine
Net Power 201 hp @ 4,200 rpm
Net Torque 369 lb-ft @ 1,800- 2,600 rpm
Motorweek's testing resulted in some pretty healthy stats.
0-60 of 6.8 sec !!!!!
1/4 mile of 15.1 !!!
For a car weighing over 2 tons, that is pretty fast.
It is faster than the E500 V8 powered car.
Mileage is also impressive.. 27 city 38 Highway. Motorweek avereaged 35MPG on their test loop.
I hope this type of press will change the mind of more people out their that are still remembering the cars built by GM.
Ken
nice. diesel is the way of the future! ..at least for now.
those are some good numbers... nice to see some factory diesels making some strong 1/4 mile passes!
don't start about GM
