This past thursday was the end of ol' Thumper the 81' Rabbit diesel. I broke an intake valve off a mile from school (30 mins from home) and had no choice but to limp it home (SHE made it!! tough little car.. :x

). Pulled the head off and needless to say...it's pretty much screwed above cylinder #1.
So...I need a head off of a 1.6 NA. Let me know if you have one and how much you want. I'd like to get my car back on the road ASAP.
Thanks and I appreciate your replies very much!

What would you want for it? How exactly do I tell what size head is on it? I know there are marks on the front of it and numbers but nothing that seems related to what size? Can anyone give me info on how to find out?
BTW...is the head complete with valves cam etc?? Mine are all good...minus one set of valves but I was just wondering. Do you have pics?
Let me know....I need one soon.

pop the VC off. If you have 12pt head bolts it's most likely a 12mm but if it has 6pt then it is a 11mm. I don't think VW varied from that but I am not positive.

I'm just logging in here, I can get you a pic. I dont remember how complete it is at the moment, I think it has a cam and all the valves in it, heck I think the intake manifold is still attached.
I would still recommend you get it looked at and new valve stem seals installed.
Drop me a PM if you do not hear from me soon.

Tyler...Ok as I remember there were 10 bolts and they were a 10mm Allen head?? :? Does this sound right?
The head is already removed from my car and the rest of the engine and gearbox is coming out of the car possibly this weekend. I'll try and nab some pics of the carnage and head so maybe this will help us figure out which size I have.
Zukgod1..I will more than likely take it once i see the pic and you figure how much you want for it shipped to 46574...dont need the intake on it if you dont mind taking it off....
Thanks,

take pictures of the bolts. Get a length and width measurement. I didn't realize the head was off.

Sorry if it takes a week...we're gettin into finals and I've been hitting the books hard so I dont have much time to do anything else.
