just remember, oil squirters... but how hard would it be to add that to a NA block?

I know that Hot Rodders add oil squirters by drilling a small hole in the rod pointing straight up to the piston and then tap the hole for a carburator Jet so that you can reduce the size hole squirting oil,
I think that is what i am going to do since I will not be able to find a factory turbo block in My area

I know that the holes for the squirters are in the block and then the squirters bolt on, I was just saying that if you didnt want to drill out the block and then buy squirters that you could drill the rods to do the same purpose and the oil would just be supplied by the oil in the rod journals.
Just another option for adding squirters thats all
But drilling the Block would probably be better since you wouldnt have to worry about weakening the rods

A friend of mine added oil squirters in his 1.5D block by drilling holes in the tops of the main bearing saddles. He rigged the engine's oil pressure galley up to his water spigot and ran water pressure so he could see where the jets were spraying and how much they were spraying, and "fine tune" them. He ran a larger oil pump, (it might have been a 36mm gear depth unit), which is really overkill for a solid lifter motor. The disadvantage of this setup versus OEM oil squirters is that oil pressure may be low in some scenarios (IE: hot idle) as there are no minimum pressure valves, which are incorporated into the stock oil squirter design.

what was his reasoning to putting them in the 1.5 block? did he end up putting a turbo on it? or did he do it just to cool the pistons?
But that is another option for oil squirters

He was building it for turbocharging, of course! :wink: I remember he put in raceware head studs along with the homebrew oil squirters.

and did the block hold up? Did it Run well and was it durable, the reason I ask is because I have 2 1.5's at home that I would be intersted in doing this to

He initially ran it naturally aspirated and I didn't track what happened later, if he ever did turbo it, but I've no reason to think it wouldn't hold up fine. He also had a VW Dasher 1.5D with a BAE turbo kit installed that worked and held up great, without any internal engine prep such as head studs or oil squirters.

what kind of boost was he running with the BAE turbo kit, and what would be a simular turbo? and on the turbo 1.5 did it have the turbo pump?
