my 1.9L AAZ motor runs great, i have to add like 1 liter / 1000k's though!
i know that theres a round puck thing on the top of the valve cover thats supost to screen out the oil.....im pretty sure thats what its for....anyways i have had the turbo rebuilt and was told if valve seals are gone then u will see a puff when you let off your gas at a good speed (vacum) and on startup white smoke. i dont have these problems, it i drive it over 120'kmh
i notice more consuption, what would be the cause if the oils getting sucked into the air intake tube?? does that puck thing have to be replaced?? theres no white smoke coming out off when i take the cap off the valve cover just alittle puff puff like normal.....what would mynext step be to try and figure it out.....
how many miles on your aaz?
sounds like compression gases are getting past the rings
you can take the hose off the puck, send it to a catch can (liter oil bottle with top cut off works) and see how much oil is being lost through it, if it's substantial amount chances are it's pressurizing the crankcase excessively and losing it because of blow by like burn suggested.
thanks for input,,,,,much appriciated....i will try that putting a liter bottle off that hose......isnt there a sensor in line with that hose, will that effect anything?? i have heard that that controls your fuel?

anyways ill try and see what happends. to do the rings on these motors is t a big job....fairly mechanicaly inclined but never attempted this.....all other minor stuff i do myself but i dont know.......should a profesional do it>
No sensor on the AAZ. Make sure to block the hole in the intake hose though to avoid dirt being sucked into the engine
well i have a 97 Golf AAZ and there is a sensor of some kind on that hose, the sensor plugs into the hole on the air intake and the hose from teh puck thing plugs into that..do i need that sensor??? i was told it controls fuel?? this true?? can i just plug the hole and leave the clip unpluged from the sensor??? what are your thoughts

that might be the anti frost heater... at least thats what it is on the 1.6's (if I'm understanding your explanation correctly) it is mainly there to stop the blowby from freezing up at the cold intake. probably useless unless you see some pretty cold temps though. your '97 doesn't have many sensors at all, unlike the TDI. the car will run fine without that thing plugged in, although in the unlikely event that the hose gets blockage, you may run into some more severe problems...
