you could just slap a turbo on and increase fueling a little bit, but more smoke off boost. N/A's aren't built to take the heat like TD's do, although there is some speculation that at a certain point N/A heads were the same as TD heads.

Im beginning to think that the only reason people say this is because they have never tried turboing a N/A 1.5
Im told with the larger exhaust downpipe you will not need oil quirters or even the hydro lifter.......
I know people on this board that have both a turboed N/a 1.5 and a reg 1.6td
who knows...In time Im going to have alot more experiences with this and can up-date for those who wonder like me...It would be nice to know forsure about the heads being the same...

I got a Polo 6N to myself. It has oil squirters and the cylinderhead and pistons are identical to the AAZ stuff.
The main problem is the gearbox (085) and the clutch. Than the second problem. Can't mount a 02A gearbox easily because the engine is leaning forward intstead of backwards as in all the other diesels.
Than the Lucas IP. Get rid of it and place a AAZ pump. (better performance and better fuel consumption without the turbo mounted) You have to cut out a little plastic from the lock plate where the headlights are mounted in. For clearance of the LDA.
I stil have to dril the hole in the back of the engine for the oil return hose. The other things are plug and play. The oil feedline can be mounted directly to the oil filter adapter.
Injectors are the same replacement as on the 1.9D. I switched them over for DNO-SD261 with dual stage 1.9TD bodies.
Intake manifold is ok for now. Because I'm going to place a T2 from a AHU TDI it fits.
As soon as the new engine and transmission supports are ready than I'm going to put the M-TDI wit 02A in the car. (needs time and money  )

I have a AEF in my Skoda Pickup, and I know a few Skodas that are running with turbo. One that has over 200hp  so yes, it is possible to put a turbo on a AEF.
I think (not sure) that you will have to change the mounting bracket for the Bosch IP.
Just get the exhaust manifold, turbo and IP from a Golf GTD or a AAZ Passat..
That´s on the TO-DO list for me too, but first I´m going to give my truck an inch or 2 of lift...

1.9 NA pistons and rods are different than 1.9TD. But no worries, those will be fine too.

I've checked the internals of my AEF 1.9D and there where oil squirters and according to the VAG part software whe pistons and rods are the same.
This engine is not the same as the 1X engine in the Golf / Jetta Mk3.

Yes, every 1,9 diesel has squirters. Yes, AEF has differents from 1Y etc 1,9NA´s. But it has same connecting rods and pistons as other 1,9 NA´s, which are different than 1,9TD ones. Rods are 6mm longer, pistons are same 6mm shorter and piston pin is 24mm.
At least this is what etka and
mahle catalogue says.

Aha ok, thanks for the correction.
I think it will last with a turbo and mild boost until I finish up the M-TDI with 02A tranny.

There's a turbo converted skoda 1,9d (same engine as in the Polo 6N). He's running up to 2,2 bar! And the engine is totally stock.
Best 1/4 mile: 13,96 @ 162 km/h.
Turbo: Switzer S1BG
Modified pump ofcourse.

What specs do you need to know? There's plenty of info on the page so it would be nice to know what you want to know so that I can translate it for you.
