Went out in the car yesterday and the exhaust started to rattle a bit - didnt think much of it. Drove up the town to see my mate - came out of his place and the exhaust back box is hanging off bigtime!
Headed down to my parents place and got the car up on blocks so i could have a look underneath - however at this time its snowing HARD!
I found the back box had totally split away from the rear pipe. So i cut the old rubbers and just chucked the backbox in the garage. By now I looked like the abominable snowman!
Drove to work with no back box - the sound is pretty sporty and the boost picks up really quickly!
My query is what do you guys have on your GTD's?
Whats the best diameter to use??

Most of these guys have no backboxes!
AFAIK the best is 2.5" straight through from turbo with no silencers.

It may be too loud to pass the MOT.

depends on the tester. cannot be louder than 98db(like a freeking jumbojet!) otherwise you can be prosocuted by the police for noise polution. so yea it's legal, just make sure your mot tester is a sound guy

my car is not much louder than stock, the turbo acts as a muffler. definately doesn't sound like a harley or even a vr6 with an exhaust

without anything on it past the mid section its ok at cruising speed, but floor it and its howls - plus you can here the turbo loads!

2.5" mandrel bent custom downpipe, 3" side exit...no muffler nothing. Sounds like a big truck and i still cant get over the sweet turbo noise it makes... Car is loud when you step on it...but in normal driving its not bad at all. Ive been past a few cops....havent gotten hassled or pulled over yet. I love it.

Why are there so many mufflers? I'd use just the black rear mount muffler only.

I wouldn't even use that one.
If I was to any of that it would be the small resonator in the middle of the pic.
Seems like an awful lot of restriction in that system.
I'll bet it will be a quiet SOB..

I just use pipe from the turbo back... that and if you extend the pipe past the car a bit the drone goes away a little
I drove one car for months with it cut off 2 feet after the cat! boy did it spool fast and look like the car was on fire when it smoked a little
