Hi, I just picked up a 91' Jetta ecodiesel, 128k miles. I'm not new to diesel cars, my dad use to have a 97 tdi. But I dont know the deal with the ecodiesel. I heard that it uses a different fuel pump then the earlyer model 1.6 diesels. is this true? and I dont have a tach on my ecodiesel, how would I go about finding one? Thanks for any help.
Welcome to the forum. As I understand it, the eco pumps have an 8mm plunger (among the smallest), and no LDA (fuel enrichment device). Other than that, everything else is pretty much like other turbo diesels.
For the tach, I think you need the proper diesel instrument cluster, and an alternator with the "W" terminal to send a signal to the tach.
Thanks. any idea of the stock mpg for this vehicle? epa states 37-40, but whats do you think real world driving.
