In the US, an '85 Jetta turbo diesel was available (and is listed in ETKA) and is engine code "MF".
No A2 Golfs that I am aware of were sold in the US with turbo-diesels. There were naturally aspirated diesel A2 Golfs though (engine code "ME").

:?: So if genuinely in its original car is a special import private or otherwise :?:
Where are the MF's manufactured?
The MF-engine code A2 Jettas were manufactured in Germany.
I took a picture of the A1 and A2 turbo output pipes ( downpipes ) side by side:

Not that many of us care  because we'd all like something that flows better
I hate to highjack the thread but I have the same motor in my 84 Jetta and I am pretty new to VW's. Is the part on the manifold that has the smaller vacuum line coming out of it the wastegate? The cover have completly rotted off of mine and the spring has pushed the cover off the rest of the assembly.
The good thing I that I just pulled the motor for a rebuild.

I read the thread about a bov which my vehicle has as well. Is the bov incase the wastegate doesn't open?
Also if you guys can point me to any other info on this I would appreciate it.
Thanks, and great board.
Matt
