As title, need to know if its worth it and can it be done on the cheap??
Im picking up a H reg 5 door CL on sunday for cheap with 210K on the clock. Probabely need a good service before the MOT and some new disks and pads. I got a 5 door GTi 8v which im breaking and most of the trim is going towards the car, there is a scrap yard near by so will have a look to see if they still have 2 GTDs and take the IC off 1 of them.
Will keep yiou posted as i go along.

His post made plenty of sense :?:
Anyways, yea, i'd say its worth it to make it a GTD. Get the inspection done first to make sure the engine is in top shape, then source the intercooler and piping and away you go...
I want to do this myself.

gtd is only a level of equipment.
you could have a CL TD with the same performance specs as a gtd...

 Sorry, forgot that it was based all over. H reg determines year of car which is 1990. Sorry.

No worries mate.... but it's a bit of a reminder for *all* of us to ensure we have our location in our profiles. Helps get to answers that make regional sense much quicker.
That way, when you mention your new car gets 35 hedgehogs per furlong we'll know why !!!! ;-)
(anyone know how to convert "hedgehogs per furlong" into the Canadian standard "igloos per back-bacon" ??)

Ya but are they metric Hedgehogs or imperial. You have to look at the year if they were born before 1975 then they are imperial. Mind you they would have to be mighty old Hedgehogs to be imperial. Cheers Dan
