My wifes NA caddy seems to have a bad starter wire (from the ignition switch). It will ight a test light with the key but usually won't send the signal to the solenoid. If I jiggle it while she turns the key thay works. I cleaned the spade and pinched the connector tighter. Is that a known weak spot? Should I put a new female connector on the wire? Replace the whole wire?

I'd start with a new female connector
also check your grounds! maybe even add an extra ground from motor to battery wouldn't hurt?
thanks Duane
replace thw terminal on the wire if the wire is not melted. if th eplug is melted then replace that too. Use the proper "w" terminal crimper to get it right. Also replace the switch if it looks in the slight bit melted.
Obviously the wiring all needs to be in good shape, with terminals well-crimped & soldered. Ditto re. the starter solenoid relay; just a "Ford fenderwell starter switch", or as they're known in the air-cooled VW community: a "hard start relay". I even put an extra push button, hidden under the dash, just in case the ignition switch does decide to puke its 'start position' function.
Also installed an extra 50Amp relay(& push button under the dash!) sending power to the the glow plug fuse, bypassing the oft-maligned factory relay... just in case.

It's starting to look like it is the solenoid. Can the solenoid be disassembled and cleaned? Can they be purchased separately?
