or should i say similarities, :?
anyway, i have a block, pistons, head, ect from a 1.6TD that are in good rebuildable condition in my garage. I, however don't have rods or a crankshaft to complete the engine. i was at first going to rip apart my engine currently im my car and use those parts, but i now need the 2 seperate engines. anyway my question is will a 1.6N/A crank and rods work for my engine cuz i have access to them easily and cheaply.
thanks for the help
Mark
Yes you can get TD-compatible crank and rod from a proper 1.6lNA. I would recommend getting a late-model 1.6lNA block from which to pillage these parts (IE: don't waste time looking for a crank from a 11mm head bolt engine). Late-model 1.6lNA cranks are the same as 1.6lTD cranks, but early 1.6lNA cranks were different. You can identify the crankshafts by the nose - more info here:

not to hyjack the thread...but what's the difference btw. the 1.6 Rods and the 1.9? I am trying to dig up the info and can't seem to find it anywhere!!!!

Does the 1.7 gas engine have the same crank as the 1.6 Diesel?? My Chilton's manual shows the same stroke, rod jounals, and main jounals on both. The "EN" code 1.7 does have a forged crank................
