I'm sorry to ask such a naive question, but does a 1991 Jetta 1.6 n/a have an electric fuel pump at the tank? If so where can I find it, and what else can you tell me about it. Where would I get a new one? How can I test to see if it is working properly. Thanks in advance for all your help.
Nope.

Thank you. I am so relieved. I had to put a new injection pump on tonight and I am having trouble with it idling or having any throttle response after about 10 seconds of running. I look in the fuel filter and it is not full. I have a fuel leak at the throttle linkage. I am going to replace the seal there on Tuesday and change the fuel filter. Hopefully that will help. I was thinking if could have been because of a dead electric lift type pump. Good news though. Thanks for your input.

i have a small lift pump on my car. one of those solid state fuel pumps. works great and doesn't draw much power to run. my car starts right up everytime! the solid state pumps run about $40 with shipping.
we'll see how she runs through the winter though... fingers crossed

Do you think have a small lift pump would help the longevity of the injection pump?
