Hey guys, new to this form and to vw diesels. I just bought an '85 jetta diesel with 157k on it. The guy before had replaced on of the injector lines but it is leaking at both ends. I am assuming there is a cruch washer that was maybe missed? Anybody done this that can chime is in with some advise? Thanks a bunch, Bahndo
There isn't anything to put between the lines and the fittings. I've heard that overtightening the lines will create a leak but I have not run into this myself.

The high pressure injector lines have flared ends, which is what makes the seal. If they are overtightened, the flare "crushes", and then they don't seal as well afterwards. If they are leaking and you can't fix it by snugging down the nuts a little tighter, I would recommend replacing the hardlines. Unfortuntely, they are quite pricey to buy them new. Used ones that aren't crushed should work fine however.

tighten the line at both ends a bit with what I believe is a 15mm wrench. Don't tighten it too much, just kind of tap on the wrench a bit so that the nut moves. If it still leaks then you can tighten a bit more but don't overtighten it. If you can't solve the leak that way then you probably need to get a new line. Fortunately used ones are cheap. What line is it? I have two lying around here (not sure what cylinders they're from but I could find out easily).
