I think these wheels are off a Cabriolet. Looking for one as a spare. just went through 30+ pages on samba and no luck. If anyone knows the 'official' name for these wheels I will take a peek on the whoretex. Or if you have one in decent shape laying around, please let me know.
P.S. Anybody have the paint codes for 1989? It may be getting a repaint soon. After my trip, of course...

Yea, in the case of my car its like putting lipstick on a pig. :) But yes, they do look nice. I may have to polish them when the new paint job gets done.

Jimmy, Do you not have a code under the hood someplace. A short 5 series of letters or numbers? That is the paint code for your car and you can go to any paint shop and they should be able to get you a mix. And if you like other colors on other cars just tell them you like that silver on the 90 Hondas and they might get it to you as well. Depends on how good the people are with their product. Some can't seem to sell you something straight off the shelf and then there's this guy or gal that has lacquer thinner for blood and they know their craft like crazy. I have access to one of those folks and it is worth my dollar to do business there.
On the general stuff you can even get it mailed to you UPS. That is how I got my gallons of clear coat. My son ordered it along with some primer surfacer and reducer and because of the total price got the free shipping. I did the personal touch to pick the colors and got the personal service to boot.

I'll look under the hood, thanks. And I'll check the door jamb as well. I thought someone on here posted a link on colors, but I am not certain. But when I get to the car, I will peek. I am leaning more towards gray than silver in that pic. Any suggestions on getting the black trim looking good again? Armor all ain't cutting it...

Jimmy, those are from a MKIII Jetta or Golf, I have them on my '98 Wolfsburg Jetta. No extras, sorry...
There's 2 versions; one looks like it was machined from billet, the other is painted and slightly smoother-edged; like mine.
I'd look on vwvortex.com in the MKIII classifieds, maybe post a wanted ad.
If no luck, try that place up in Fleischmanns NY, they have a ***-ton of VW/Audi stuff. VW-Parts Inc. 845-254-6600

Paint code should originally been on a tag in the trunk.
On the verticle tin below the latch point or in the bottom under the carpet.

I can barely change my own oil, but the knowledge of VW's and diesels here is simply top-notch. "Ask and you shall receive" should be the banner of this website.... :) Thanks for this heads up. After I get this back on the road and do my cross Country trip, I am going to need 2 new front fenders, some spot rust and pinstriping removed,and I will get a nice new Atlas Grat Metallic Clearcoat (code LP7V/R4) :) paint job. Also looking to get a new carpet inside and get the Recaro's and back seat reupholstered. Anyone have a quad headlight radiator support laying around as well, let me know. :)
Well, I am off to work. 24 hours, off 9, 15 more, off 9 then 24 more monday/tuesday, so I am a bit busy this weekend. Anyway, a Merry Christmas to everyone out in VWDiesel.net land. Eat heartily, and hope all the VW diesel gear you wanted from Santa is under your tree tomorrow. And watch those lights and real trees. Always hated fires on Christmas.

Thanks, it looks good from a distance. But the paint is tired and has been resprayed in damaged areas and you can see the overspray. I plan on a respray after I remove the middle side moldings, pinstripe, fill a small ding on the bonnet, repair a small dent in the back, and I wanna keep it the original color. I know with metallics its tricky, so I wanna do it all at once.
That is a ways away though. I try to keep it clean and throw a coat of wax on it to protect whats left of the good paint.
Yours looks nice. I am not a fan of the small bumpers, but the body looks straight and I dig the simplicity of the wheel choice.

i bet if you did that heat gun technique, then armor-alled it, then it might work better..
ive spilled black diesel motor oil on my bumpers before too, and that makes them look almost brand new..

The Kiwi works down here. The plastic never gets really cold. I applied in March and have only had to touch up after having to scrub some *** off the plastic and the kiwi too.

Hey, thanks. That white stuff under the LR door I cant get rid of, and I have to replace the front fenders, and check the floorpans for rust. I actually beat the crap out of this car til I found this site, I take care of it, then the engine craps out...lolol. But with the new engine, Giles IP and all the work getting done to it, as crazy as people think I am for doing it, I actually can't wait to start driving it, and take it across the Country. New carpeting (with Dynamat or similar stuff), redoing the Recaro seats (maybe have them dyed, they are comfy), looking for a quad headlight setup, and I will be done after the new paint job. But the electrical work, 1.8 gas manifold and d/p are hopefully done this week, it's off to the exhaust shop, then finally on the road.

I see all of these quads missing tabs, but the hardest part is finding the radiator support. I thought I saw newer ones for sale on a website, I can't recall it. I'll keep looking, I'm sure I'll find it. Even thoughI do a lot of reading on here, what exactly are 'E-codes'? Read about it quite frequently, but never comprehended them. Not certain about the NOS paint, but no doubt someone here will know. .
