Just a few here....
A friend of mine works for an oil company so I thought I'd ask him. He says as far as lubrication goes, yes for sure it's better than any diesel lubricant additive on the market. If you go ash less, its not gonna cause carbon build up, BUT it may or may not eat your seals in the IP....
I really can't see tho how it would give you better mpg :P It may reduce the friction in your IP but my how much??? I don't think it's enough to notice a difference in mpg....
-
Wow, most interesting was on page 3 of that last link, the dieselplace.com testing of common diesel fuel additives on untreated ULSD- I always thought that the Stanadyne stuff was the standard but it actually made it worse! I'd like them to run the test over again from a sample of "normal" pump ULSD.

Well I'll try it in the common 125:1 mix ratio. We'll see if it does anything. I'm just very paranoid about the lubricity of ULSD.....

i ran a concoction of used motor oil, white gasoline, 2 cycle oil and transmission fluid in my car once. ive never had quite so much power off of anything besides diesel. it was nuts really, how much more power it had and there wasnt a drop of diesel in the fuel tank.
-
;D 1:200 two stroke works for me.
I'm a bit wary of ATF as many contain "friction modifiers" for the clutch bands.
Sand is an excellent friction modifier! ;D
-
Been using this for some months now, no more mpg or smoke reduction but much quieter when cold and a little smoother. tbh I only seen the benefit when I stopped, Ive since started again, low ash non synthetic walmarts (asda) cheapest!

white gasoline, 2
What is it and where do you get it?

We call it Kerosene here.

when it's above 60F I run a mix of 4 gals used canola oil, .9 gals used gasoline from the local auto crusher, and 1oz. of turpentine in my IDI vehicles.

That's impressive!! you provided the lubrication, and MADD BTU's You made your own fuel (that im gonna say is better then Diesel)
I think the reason you noticed so much extra power was because you actually did have it. Motor Oil has like a ton more BTU to it then Diesel does.. You had a bad-ass fuel concoction there :)

WOW!can we get the mix for this??? what are the ratios? It would be a bit exspensive, but who the hell cares. Awesome jub bro!

two cycle oil works real good to add extra lubricity to the pump and it doesnt smoke on burning - mates RX7 and RX8 lives on 2S oil mixed with petrol - another mates stupid mercedes ponton diesel uses 2S oil to run smoothly otherwise the pump decides not to play fair
-
well guys, i could never mix up that concoction ever again. i wanted to go do something, and there was no diesel around the house and my tank was empty. started looking around. found a couple gals of waste oil, dumped a quart or so of trans fluid in, poured in some white gasoline (coleman fuel, not kerosene.. there is a difference) and a BUNCH of two cycle oil. probably almost a quart of that too. mixed it up in a gas can and poured it in. made myself around 4 gallons of racing diesel :) i know it works tho, because my car easily lights up the tires in 2nd gear with my home brew in the tank. no 100 foot long posi-trac 2nd gear burn outs on normal diesel, even if its red.. (whats currently in my tank :-X)
-
oh yea, i still have 3 gallons kicking around if someone could do an analysis to how much of what it has in it, i dunno if you can do that, but i have some left. and im sure that i could probably come up with some sort of recipe for it. my car even started easier with my own fuel, and made less ignition ping at idle. the fuel looks gnar tho, it looks just like straight black motor oil. but smells like coleman fuel and trans fluid. i kinda almost think i mixed about a half gallon oil, a quart trans, a half quart 2c oil and half quart of coleman fuel. sucks when you burn it tho, it smells like your rings are shot. lol
-
Once I rebuild my engine, I'm gonna make some. Thanks, rabbitonroids. Any clue as to the kind and type of use motor oil it is? and the type of tranny fluid? does it mix well together, or does it seperate and have to be mixed again? I think you should get on this and sell your own recipe as a patent brother, you may just have something here. :o
-
Did you filter it at all? or just put it in the tank? ??? I am looking at viscosity, and colloidal properties now, and this stuff sounds amazing! you know penicillin was discovered by accident ;)
-
I wouldn't recommend running anything buy diesel, in your diesel car.
I'm waiting for Giles to chime in about cavitation in the pumps, and wear in the cylinders from the wash-down effect of solvents.
-
dude, my engine is a conglomeration. i have the weakest block and head and bolts available (1.5) and it runs this stuff awesome. and since all the ingredients are oils, they all mix.
i used waste motor oil from everything on the property, so it has 5w30, 10w40, 20w50, and lots of 15w40 rotella.
transmission fluid is nothing special, just the cheap crap from napa auto parts, dexron III.
2c oil was Wal-mart special TC-W3 outboard oil.
coleman fuel, pretty self explanatory, lol.
there will be no cavitation in my pump, its pressure fed. and the fuel i made is the same consistency as diesel.
and i dont care what anyone says, im running ENGINE OIL as a main fuel. engine oil is going to wear my cylinders out?
wow, what am i gonna run in my engine to lubricate it now?
you dont get the wash down effect either. the piston is at top dead center when fuel is introduced. the fuel never touches the cylinder walls.

lol. Some peoples children eh?

I frequently use jetfuel in my car since I get it for free, on the downside is that it doesn´t have the lubricity of dieselfuel and not the same amount of energy in it (7% less roughly) the lubricity is usually taken care of with 2s oil, diesel additives such as redline etc or if nothing else available I use turbine engine oil...
-
jet fuel has a higher soot content than diesel also. really pours the black when you get on the pedal if its burnin jet-a.
-
using propane as nos for diesels? I heard hat this is how it's done you just have to use a more lubricated fuel? true? false? Nos won't fundamentally work for these engines because of the injection timing and predetonation right? I don't plan on doin this just good info none the less.
-
propane is fuel. you need tons of air to burn it properly. it makes your EGT's sky rocket tho. Nitrous is way safer on diesels. you turn the smoke up till you get smoke at WOT, then you add the NOS. nitrous is the way to go rather than propane. nitrous makes the EGT's go down actually. diesel burns better with the cold nitrous. and its like being intercooled even if you dont have one.
you have everything backwards. Nos works great, because its not a fuel, its an oxidizer. propane is a fuel. and it creates detonation. propane is injected into the intake stream. diesels dont have fuel in the intake charge normally. so the propane ignites WAY before the diesel is even present.

I add 125ml after every fill up of fresh diesel. MB TSB recommended this to owners of older diesels with the introduction of low sulphur fuel..307,000 kms on my OM617.952 and she pulls strong..
