i bought an o-ring kit off ebay for around $20 then shipping (green viton o-rings)
i still have a lot of the o-rings since some of them are gigantic and i doubt i'll ever find a use. i would have payed more than $20 at the dealer buying the specific o-rings for the car.
to fix my a/c i had to change the rad fan, new resistor for the low speed a/c, a new condensor, and receiver drier.
since my system was exposed to the elements for almost a year, i had to run duracool duradry to get rid of the moisture, and then some duracool a/c oil chill (because i replaced the condensor & receiver drier) and then charged her up. cooling is okay, but nothing too special. i still have to open it back up to make some cowling so that the rad fan sucks air from both the rad and the condensor.
the mk2 sanden compressor is pretty robust.. i'm surprised it didn't blow. i always hear about gm type compressors going... what a surprise
if you use a mk3 compressor i dont think it will work (i never heard of a mk3 a/c compressor that had a v-belt)

you'll also need to convert your charge fittings to the quick connect r134a style with a kit like this (i just bought the low side fitting for $10) you can check out
www.duracool.com for just a couple of fittings as the kit below is pretty pricey.
