Does anyone run these type of filters on their IDI's? Mine is a 92 and it has the older style filter on it. I ordered one from autohausaz and got a filter that has a big hole in the top for that tee instead of a little plug. I will post pics if everyone is confused by what I am saying. Later
'92's came with the fuel return 'heater' i'm pretty sure. the older style is a spin-on.
There were some of the 'non preheat' kind which weren't spin on IIRC. Bhtooefr's 86 golf is like this.
Here in Michigan, I'll stick with the preheated filter. FWIW, the filter is the same as what is used on the 1Z and AHU TDIs.

Last one I picked up for experimental dismemberment was.
My 87 TD had one, I eliminated it on that car & my current TDI in favour of running a custom head & Cummins filter. Use anti-gel in the winter & no problems
