as the add says i'm looking for some early rabbit or cabriolet decent used front fenders! i'm upgrading my '82 2door jetta with a round headlight now after i hit a deer with it a couple years ago! I always wanted a jetta that had round headlights! I thank the deer for giving me a good reason to do it!!to bad that deer isn't around to see it again after i have it finished ! L.O.L.
we can either trade or i can just buy them? let me know thanks Duane
I have these...
http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3323359Not excellent...but def. a good deal for the price. If you scroll down I have pics of the core support as well as the fenders which you'll need if your going to convert to rounds...
Joe
do you have a pic. of the core support? I may be interested in it also ? I have 2 new n.o.s. round core supports for my projects but i need 1 more to fix another pickup that i got that was done incorrectly ! the fenders look usable !
and by any chance you have the rear trunk lid left from that car i need the black plastic piece that goes behind the licence plate?well let me know rabbitgtdguy? thanks Duane
No...sorry, don't have the trunk filler plate from the cabriolet...or I would have kept it to use on my car

It was broken on the cabby these parts came from.
Also...if you scroll down in the the link I posted , you'll see pictures of the core support.
Let me know.
Joe
Ahh!! I didn't scroll down far enough! well are you handy with a grinder and a cut off wheel? i only need the head light section area? can you cut say an inch and a half below the head light bezel or along the top of the bumper opening across the top of the two grill openings behind where the bumper would be? that would lighten the shipment! and i think that would be the easiest place to cut and make it still usable for me! and what kinda price for shipping to milwaukee wi. 53221? those 2 n.o.s. core supports that i bought came from new york and that was a 100 bucks for shipping ! I got those for 75 a piece! nothing like new metal it's been great to work with!! well let me know if you can accomodate me on that incision on the core support?
and if so a new price! thanks Duane
I'm not too sure I want to cut up the core support...as its in really good shape as far as that goes. Not to mention, not having the tools right here to do it (this was done at home).
I'll see what I can do...but don't think I want to cut that up. The stock, original OEM cores are so much nicer than the repro ones out there now. IMHO ...that includes fenders as well.
Joe
well if i bought it thats where i would cut it! because the apron thats on the truck now is perfect! no dents! the guy i got it from did not do it the right way ! and the best way to fix it is to use the upper half that has the right bezels for the head lights to mount into! and that lower section is heavy and it would be alot more for shipping because of all the coating thats on it ! I understand that you would rather not cut it because you took the time to cut it all out as a complete support and to see it used in that mannor! but for me to use it it would be less work just to scab the upper half in and i would not need to straiten the apron because the one on the truck now is strait and it would be easier to blend the welds that are behind the bumper! I'f you would rather not thats fine maybe next time we can do some buisness i won't be heart broken! I completly understand! well let me know thanks Duane
its more a time/tools thing for me. I don't have the ability to cut it here right now as I haven't bought a cutoff tool to have here with me. At home, or my parents house, I can as we have all the pneumatics...thats a 2.5hr. trip though with it, then bringing it back, packing it, etc. etc.
The lower apron on this one would def. need some work, and I see why you'd want to cut, etc...it is easier...however, I just don't have the means to do it nor is it really worth it for the price I'm asking for all of it. I may end up cutting parts out of it to repair/reinforce the support on my 79 anyways if someone doesn't pick it up. Just thought I'd offer it.
I thought you were doing a jetta ? You mention a "truck" thats the only reason why i ask
Joe
Yes you heard it right ! i'm working currently on a 2door jetta! and i also have a pickup that needs some work done to finish the core support correctly the previous owner did not do it correctly or i should say i don't like the way he did it! i also have a core support that is still awaiting a future project! I have around 16 vw's 7 of them are trucks! I proabably need to check my self in somewhere because i think this is turning into an obsession! and not a hobby anymore? L.O.L. well with owning all these cars and trucks i try and cut my costs in anyway i can because it's expensive! shipping being one of my biggest expense! the price is right for what you got! don't get me wrong! i'f theres anyway we can still make this happen? i would appreciate it! even if i need to wait till you get capable of cutting it for me? thats not a problem like i said it's for my other truck thats awaiting it's turn to get rebuilt!
or if you have time and it's not out of your way? see how much it would cost to ship it the way it is? i'f you want i can PM my phone # to ya or i can call you and touch base a little faster ? i type ike a chicken eats! if you know what i mean?
thanks Duane
