Hi all,
Just picked up a tdi 1Z engine for my '93 Golf AAZ.
All the sensors, pump, turbo, intercooler and ecu are with it, but no wiring loom.
My question is, do I source the loom and use the ve pump, or go the tdi-m route?
Is there a big enough advantage spending the extra money to use the ve setup?

the electronic route will give you a quieter engine, and be more efficient. TDI-m is just easier to work on / troubleshoot.
the wiring might be very difficult though...
1Z wiring is fairly easy to get hold of as the cars are pretty plentiful. Have you checked ebay? There are usually a couple being broken for spares on there...
The AHU loom is identical (96>), and don't forget the accelerator sender and the two pedal switches if you haven't got 'em. The decider could be if you got the immobiliser box and transponder or not? If not then it's TDI-m for you!
I suspect there's nothing in your area right now though, otherwise my friend in Dronfield would already have hoovered it up for me
None near me either but I'll keep an eye out for you
Personally I like the cheap 'n' chippable-ness of the TDI-e as it seems to me that tuning of the m pump can be viciously expensive.

after waterfest,id say go "m"
because i had a few runs where maybe the time wasnt the greatest(i wasnt so impressed with 14.4 ish times
but the 99.2 mph trap speeds were awesome
Thanks,
Guess I,ll use m pump until a loom comes up
I haven't got the immobiliser bits with the ecu but there are a few electronic bods in the area that will defeat the immobiliser part of the ecu.

Hello, I am transplanting my t3 van with a 1Z, hopefully with ecu, I have everything apart from the key, would you be kind enough to let me know who bypasses the immobiliser?
Cheers
