WTB 1.6 Block or engine
« on: July 30, 2007, 03:49:09 pm »
I'm in the process of building a Suzuki samurai/VW diesel hybrid.  I've got a 1.6 diesel.  But the gallon of water I drained out of it (rainwater) and the rusted cyl. aren't looking good.  It's seized at the moment.  So I've got the cyls on the stand soaking in liquid penetrate and ATF.   Sad because the car only had 100K on it.

Anyhow, I'm west of Atlanta GA.  Looking for something locally that I could rebuild, or possibly a complete engine.  A shortblock needing rings with decent bores would work as well.

Thanks in advance!

I've rarely seen a motor that needed rings that didn't need pistons.. Best bet is to build fresh and be sure in 20k miles you won't be blowing by..

Just bore it 40 over and get it overwith, you can get the pistons out of the bores with a 10lb sledge and a nice chunk of wood.

you might want to try and get that block apart. If its not too bad and its standard bore you might be ok going a size or 2 oversize. What do you really have to lose?

It's already apart.  #3 piston had burnt through.  I've got the block at the machine shop now.  Just trying to source a complete running engine if I could.
