Got in touch with headbolts.com, they are out of stock on stud kits for the 1.6  metal HG gasket etc will be arriving shortly and I really don't want to go back with bolts.
Does anyone have the part # for the ARP's? Alternate brand or vendor who has them??
Alternately, if I wind up going back with bolts, can I remove and replace the bolts with studs when they come available? This is what I plan to do with my Cummins when I stud it, no clue if this is workable on this motor or not.
Thanks!

Fisher> Thank You!!!
Dr. Diesel> I have the head off right now and hope to have it back on before the end of the week, hence the hurry. Do appreciate the offer.

Summit Racing. Also in the ARP instructions, they talk about swapping studs out with bolts one at a time, so I'm sure that would be fine. Just make sure to follow ARP's torque recommendations, and don't use VW's.

Just, and I mean just! Got through ordering a set from Summit.
That was my next question, what final torque to go to, and in what stages?
Not unfamiliar with the process atall, just wondering what has been found to work the best with the 1.6.
BTW, jimfoo, I'm drooling over the rover

Instructions come with them. I am pretty sure final torque is 80 ft/lbs if you use their supplied moly lube, 120 with 10W30.
Yeah, Rover & VW Diesel, the best of both worlds. Now if I can only stop driving it long enough to finish it.

Ugh am I the only one who would be a bit anxious after such operation?

I'll be going with the ARP studs also.
I dont see why you couldnt replace one at a time like we would on our Cummins Billy.
Side note; I wend to start assembeling the bottom end and realised there wasnt any rings int he dang box with the pistons.... Now I gotta wait more..

Poor Dan
I hope to have the IP back from getting checked out by Friday, so this weekend I should get the truck back up and going.
BSD> It's done all the time with the Cummins, buuuuutt..the Cummins has a reusable head gasket. I don't know if the 1.9 metal HG is reusable or not, but in my case it shouldn't matter since studs will be here tomorrow
