2000 Jetta TDI GLS in Maryland - Mikeyworks' personal car
« on: July 11, 2007, 07:41:48 pm »
I’m actually ready to sell my car.  Here’s the run down:

2000 VW Jetta GLS TDI

Exterior: Indigo Blue Metallic
Interior: Beige Cloth
Mileage: 340,000 miles, only 50,000 on current engine
Transmission: Automatic, roughly 50,000 on current transmission
ECU: Rocketchip Stage 2
Injectors: Stock Manual Injectors (0.187, as compared to stock auto injectors 0.184).
Accessories: TDI Heater, 6-Disc CD changer, DieselGeek Panzer Plate, Cold Cathode Trunk Lighting, Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch will 4 pin wiring harness.

I bought the car 2005 with a bad engine, replaced the engine with a low mileage engine, and 6 months later the transmission went out on me.  It too was replaced with a low mileage unit (replaced by local VW dealer).  Both have less than 50K miles on them.

The timing belt (with water pump, rollers, tensioner, pulleys, serpentine belt) replacement was done 22K miles ago (when engine was installed in the car).
AC professionally charged when engine installed

I also went through and replaced/upgraded what needed to be done:
- New Bilstein TS struts & new stock springs (front)
- New Bilstein TS shocks & new stock springs (rear)
- New Brake Pads & Rotors all the way around less than 20K miles ago
- New Tires (Yokohama Avid H4s) less thank 10K ago, all great shape
- New Ball Joints (both sides), less than 5K ago
- New Bearings (front), less than 5K ago
- New Tie Rod End (drivers side), less than 5K ago, passenger side passed inspection
- New Control Arm Bushings (both sides), less than 5K ago
- New Headlights (to replace worn/pitted units), less than 20K ago
- New Side Markers (to replace yellowed units), less than 5K ago
- New Radio Antenna (to replace bent/cracked unit), less than 10K ago
- New Inner/Outer CV boots on Drivers Side, less than 5K ago. Passenger side passes inspection.
- New Coolant Temp Sensor & coolant flange, less than 5k ago
- New Glow Plugs and Harness, less than 5k ago

You can see I maintain this car religiously and the mileage on the car is not indicative of how the car rides and feels. It feels like a low mileage car of this year...that's because for all intents and purposes, it is. It gets Rotella T Full Synthetic oil and VW oil filters every 10K miles. It has new transmission fluid in it with less than 10K miles on it. It has all new other fluids done when engine was installed (power steering, coolant, etc.). When the car needs anything, it gets it.
I am going to replace the rear calipers as one appears to be hanging when the emergency brake is engaged, and that will be done before the car is sold so the brake fluid will also be completely flushed/replaced with ATE Super Blue.  The front calipers are in great shape.

There’s a couple of chips in the paint in the front of the hood that I am currently repairing and will completely wet sand down to match.  The front does show some road wear and the paint there is in good shape, but not show perfect.  From 10 feet away, it looks great though, don’t get me wrong!!!

As you can tell, I love this car.  The hard part is I don’t drive it enough to make it worth my while.  I drive it down to the bus stop in the morning 3 miles away and there it sits all day.

I am asking $9,000 or best offer.

Hopefully, lots of folks here will chime in with how nice this car is and how well it’s cared for.  I don’t want to part with it, but it’s time to move on.

The car is currently in Havre de Grace, MD, about 30 minutes north of Baltimore.  If you are interested, PM me or reply.  We can work something out.

Thanks,
Mikey

All of my IDI stuff is gone, virtually. I have a little left that I need to pitch that nobody seems to want.

I have been working on my '74 Super Beetle: http://www.superbeetlesonly.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6612

It's going to take a while, but it's fun.

We still have two TDI's (both 2000 Jetta's) but we're going to need to upgrade for space reasons pretty soon.  They are getting cramped.

Today is a day of mixed emotions...

My car is officially SOLD. It's going to a good home and a good TDI owner (he already has one).

I will miss the car as it's been fun for the past few years.

Thanks for all of the interest.
