Hi,

my A2 front A arm hockey puck bushings are on their way out, they have started to get loose from the rubber bonding, Is it a good idea to put poly bushes in there because its a flex bushing rather than rotating one.

I have these 80mm dia poly urethane 80 duro logs that I can have machined to make into bushes or should I be looking at getting some OEM ones.

If you drive the car in the winter time I would not recommend poly bushings as salt makes them brittle and they crack!!!! Stock ones are cheap as hell and will prolly last you a few years easily!!!

I had them on my '91 and found them to be WAY too harsh for daily driving (I still did for a year, but I didn't enjoy it...)

I recently replaced them with OEM R32 bushing which are slightly stiffer than stock, but not as harsh as the poly ones.  I'm very happy with them.

I got my R32 bushing from http://www.pap-parts.com/products.asp?dept=3888

(This only really applies to A2/A3 cars.  I don't think they fit A1 cars.)

thats what I thought - that bushing is supposed to flex, and poly is more like a solid, so I guess OEM is a good choice then

Stay away from poly on the control arms and rear beam. The bushings are designed to flex unlike poly. Poly puts a lot more stress on the suspension components (binding) and tends to wear out the metal around it

I am also of the anti-poly camp...

R32 bushings for an OEM upgrade. For true performance, spherical bearings are the only way to go.
