I found one hell of a deal on an 83 quantum td, wondering if someone could shed some lite onto what exactly one is??

It has a burnt ring 1.6td in it, and comes with a spare, good 1.6td.

Were Quantum coupes avaliable in north america?  I dont remember ever seeing one (in person).  Interesting cars, but I do like the looks of them.  (the coupes anyway)

Another 10 cents, the Quantum eventually became the Passat.

There were three versions of the Quantum sold in North America from 1982 - 1990; the 4-door sedan, the 2 door coupe (hatchback), and the 4-door wagon. As noted elsewhere, the Quantum is actually the same car as the Passat and Audi 4000. It was available with 4 and 5 cylinder gassers and the trusty 1.6TD. The 5 cyl gas model as available with AWD, called the Syncro (now Quatro).

You can see pics of a sedan here.

A wagon here.

And a coupe here.

My Quantum is the same as the sedan above, but without the cheezy rear wing... ;)

So tell us about the car you're looking at.  :D

actually, the quantum always was the Passat.  It was another car that VW changed the name on when they imported it to North America, then changed it back again.  Same as the rabbit (which was actually always a golf).

You don't want a car that's been parked on a lawn for any length of time.  You'll be lucky if you can even lift it off the ground without putting the hoist through the floor.

I see what appears to be a very early 2dr rabbit hiding behind that quantum.  Wonder if that's for sale too?
