fuel leak...
« on: May 26, 2004, 04:36:42 pm »
Hey folks...Me again....I noticed this afternoon that I have a "slight" leak from a fuel line on top of the fuel dist/pump...coming off what looks like a banjo bolt marked "OUT" on top..Is this a high press. line? can I use some sort of normal hose clamp? or does it need to be something special ?

Thanks
Keith

Nope, that is low pressure, fuel return line (returns fuel back to the tank.)  There are 2 hoses that connect to the out banjo: one little one that connects to the injector return line, and a big one that returns fuel back to the tank.  This fuel line eventually decays with time and heat and should be replaced if it gets brittle.  I recommend using the OEM cloth-braided stuff, both are available aftermarket from OEM VW suppliers.  The cloth-braided fuel return line has a 7mm inside diameter.
