In particular, I'm looking for the R135a AC line that goes from the compressor to the top of the condensor.

I'm not sure if other MK3 lines will be the same, but I wouldn't mind seeing a picture if you've got any of those.

i dont think there is an upgraded 134a line. you will need to buy the new fittings for the low side to do a ghetto recharge like me, and a high side fitting to do it properly (which i can now do with the recharge kit i got off ebay)

if your hose leaks, just get new o-rings for it (make sure to lube them in synthetic oil)

things to do before retrofitting your system = drain a/c oil. from compressor. (this may require taking the compressor out, not fully sure though..) change the high side o-rings to reduce the chance of the gas escaping.

they also say to purge the system with something like nitrogen to get any residual oils out. most people say to heck with this step, the oil that is in there is fine. well no its not... r134a is very corrosive, and will quickly break down the oil that is in there right now. that is why you need to switch to a synthetic oil.

or... why not just run duracool???

it's not corrosive, and is completely compatible with both types of oils, AND has a less likely chance at escaping from worn seals. oh and did i mention that it is ozone friendly? meaning it does not break down the ozone like R12, or even R134a? not that anyone really cares though... :roll:

The aluminium fitting on the end of the hose is cracked off, courtesy of the previous owner or their mechanic reefing down on it's holding clamp, not 100% guaranteed repairable, and unobtanium from VW or the afternarket.

I need another hose.

you could possibly build your own hose out of copper, but would it would need to flex a bit...

I have a bunch of lines from a mk2 for the dealer installed AC, they might work for you

You need 95-97 Passat B4 with diesel engine only. A/C lines are specific, no idea what is different though. I do have a few off parts cars, no idea if they leaked or not too rare to care! I will look through my spares...

Wait a minute, do you have a B3 or B4 Passat (93, or 95-97)?

B3. It's an odd fitting, the two lines that plug into the compressor have stubs sticking out, with a circular flange behind them. The flanges are held down by a thick figure 8 shaped plate with a single bolt running through the middle that threads into the compressor.

The gasser ones screw onto the compressor, different fitting altogether, and a little different shape.

Yes, I have a B3 sitting at a friends house, I am sure it has the line your looking for and if not I should have the right one in my pile of spares I never let them crush a diesel with good lines on it not easy to come by!
Let me dig it up and see what kind of box is required, shipping might be high.
