Leaky Pump
« on: July 06, 2007, 08:43:12 am »
I recently bought an 86 Jetta 1.6 TD.  The injection pump is leaking where the punger head (not sure what the proper term is) connects to the rest of the pump.  I have a seal kit and was wondering if I can pull the end of the pump apart without removing the pump?  Anyone tried this?

It can be done. Libbybapa did it ( on the bench, I think) by loosening the pump head just enough to sneak the seal out and replace it, taking one bolt out at a time. The scariest part is stretching the new seal around the pump head. You might search for the thread here and over on Jack's site- vwdieselparts.com.

Thanks, I found the thread on Jack's site and I'm going to give it a try this weekend.
