Is there any way i can get these things to hold together in the winter? In the summer time its fine accept if you hold alot of psi (23) for a long time. maybe my 626 intercooler doesnt flow well enough? Dam :evil:
without a bead on the end of the pipes, hoses can slip off. I've had good pipe staying power by carving 2 or 3 shallow grooves around the pipe's circumference near the end where the clamp will sit. Dragging a sharp hacksaw (not sawing) around the pipe will do this nicely. Also, a very, VERY thin smearing (.001-.002" thin) of RTV silicone between the (clean!) pipe and hose mating surfaces helps glue things together.
use two clamps, use a screw driver to make X on the pipe if your in a hurry... maybe try before the pipe you are going too, stick a clamp on the actual rubber hose, that way the pipe cannot expand/ balloon before the next connection... don't tighten it much and only stick it like 1/2" before the coupling/whatever its going on..
HI I have no problem with my set up first I used stainless pipe with only a 1/4" space so my rubber rad hose is only to make the system air tight.There is no way they can back off as the pipe is almost a continuous joint between turbo and intercooler.Also I use some very good clamps that may sovle your problem on there own.They are the double wire type with a bolt welded between the two wires thay can be tightened twice as secure as the worm gear type.You don`t see them that much I had to wait till I got up to the Barrie auto flea market.The added benifit with the stainess steel pipe is that my boost went up 3 PSI just changing from rubber.Plus they look increadible when buffed up.I have a supply of high food grade stainless steel pipe if you want to change over.I will send you a pic of the clamps and of my set up.
