93 golf 1.9 milage
« on: January 20, 2005, 09:33:10 am »
Hi
I'm running 1993 golf 1.9 td 5 spd  my milage seems to be an honest 45 mpg it's ok but i'm looking for more is there any mods or tuning  i can do myself? this motor runs like a top, smokes very little, and has tons of torque i can sacrifice some of the power if it would bring me higher mpg's
   Any help is appreciated
                                                       Lyle

i think you could lower your idle (car will vibrate more at idle) and that would help city driving a little bit...

Would an intercooler increase or decrease MPG?  My guess is improve highway mpg, but not city...

I'm sure there are other ways of modifying the fueling to make the car smoke less, and at the same time use less fuel (but decreasing power)
