I have an 83 Rabbit Turbo Diesel (factory). I'm located in Watervliet NY (suburb of Albany..about 10 minutes from where Garry is from) for the time being, until I head back to Mexico after Thanksgiving. I was just down in New Paltz about 4 weeks ago to purchase a complete power steering setup from someone out of a Diesel pickup.

I've been finding some interesting bits lately....almost enough to finish the car.

They had factory td rabbit pickups? really? Can you post some pics of it? and if you head back down this way anytime soon, drop me a line and we'll hang out. I'd like to see this car.

They made a little over 400 factory Rabbit Turbo Diesels in 83 & 84 for the North American markets. Though I'm unsure if they ever equipped Rabbit pickups with a Turbo Diesel.

However, I'm going to take a photo of a very interesting German look Rabbit Diesel Pickup...There are some indications with regards to accesory location, that it may have had a Turbo Diesel in it. It's a rare looking animal...it has the very early Jetta dash with the rounded vents. There's no engine/tranny in it, but I might be able to draw a few conclusions from VINs, accessories, etc...

im over in lagrange
i passed your truck sittin in a service garage in new paltz,and i stopped to look at it(that was late winter)

drive out 299 w thru new paltz,,and at the 44-55 jct,,theres a shop with a pickup with a round headlight front end +a mk2 rocco out there,,,know em???

Yeah, I know of that shop but I don't know who owns that p/u or the rocco. Maybe I should go introduce myself...My truck went back into the shop today so I can (hopefully) have the Giles pump and IC setup installed in time for Sunday, which is the day I am heading down. Look forward to seeing you there...
