the only thing i almost always swipe from cars like that is the glow plug relay since they're 50 bucks a pop.

The reason why i am asking is two fold.I have a 1986 MK2 Golf, and would like to get whatever useful parts i can.The other being i would love to have a MK1 with a diesel and knowing that if i do with a MK1 i can't be picket about diesel or not i would like to get the parts that make it a diesel so i could swap one in a MK1 if i do get it.Also how good are the fuel filter setup on the Mk1 compared to the MK2?Thanks

Take the head off it. if the cylinder walls look ok, and the engine turns over by hand, take the engine.

Take the cluster
I think the fuel filter is just as good as the mk2 setup but I don't know for sure

the mk1 setup is better, but only because the filters for it are like 10 dollars cheaper haha.

depend on what you want to wire up. If you are planning to drop the diesel into a gasser shell, then as long at they are both ce1, ok, otherwise, just pull the relays...

Sorry if i was not clear in my last post.I ment that i would like to have MK1 and know that finding a clean one is getting harder to find and if i do find one it might not be a diesel. This is why i asked about the wiring. Also what is CE1?Thanks

If it has good plastic navy blue window cranks...take them. they are tough to find.
If it has good navy blue trunk carpet..take it and sell it to me.
