Exhaust wrap
« on: January 18, 2005, 03:08:33 am »
I'm working on cooling down my 1.6td in our suzuki, and was thinking about this cross-over pipe right underneath the water outlet and water temp sending unit, cranking out over 1000 degrees.

I am planning on wrapping it with some ceramic insulation tape. Any thoughts?

That would be your best bet I would think. Don't want that extra heat to get to those parts not to mention the oil feed line for the turbo.  I know that when I put the Jet Hot coated headers on my Impala it helped reduce the temperatures under the hood.

Engine looks good. Was weird to see it bolted to a normal position transmission. I'm use to all FWD applications. :D

Hey! That looks familiar.  :D

I used Thermotech wrap on my crossover pipe but it didn't do much. The bigger radiator is the ticket.

Are you familiar with the Samurai Diesel Yahoo group?

Between this group and that, you can find out pretty much everything you need.

A fellow TD Zukster!! Even in the Northwest!

Without the yahoo group, and the help from Jeff and David of Acme, as well as the other listees... I'd be in trouble.

I'm putting in a copper/brass 26" radiator as soon as it is here, and changing my fans out to 12"ers. I want to get an oil cooler added too as soon as I totally understand how to drill and tap that oil filter flange.

Is your turbo cool in your Zuk? What did you do?

Thanks!

Ri

Wrap the pipe with Thermotec header wrap.  It will keep the engine compartment much cooler.  RT
