Get rid of the voltmeter and stick it in there.

You guys may find the needle vibrates a bit on the VDO gauge and buzzes at idle.... there's a tee with a restrictor that supposedly makes that better.
After a couple of years you'll get used to it !!

You know, if you lost that little badge on front, no one would ever guess what you had going on. Lot's of opportunity to drop the hammer and leave people grabbing for the lever to down shift to try and catch up. "What the hell? Am I in 5th gear or somthing?"

Yep,tried it already, the car goes well, and it does suprise people, they expect a 1.6D and not the 1.9TD,one geezer stopped me and asked what was going on under the bonnet,he was impressed

Oddbal question, I know, but about that trailer hitch...
Don't Euro trailers require the use of safety chains?
All North American hitches have "ears" welded on them near the hitch ball, so you can hook safety chains on between the car and trailer, in case the hitch ball fails.
I have a Euro trailer hitch for my diesel Vanagon, and, like your Rabbit hitch, there are no such "ears" for safety chains.
So don't they use safety chains on that side of the Atlantic?
