Hey guys, i need an answer to what should be a simple problem, i took my mk3 1.9td golf to a mechanic to have a transmission put in, now i got it back and i am finding myself almost without boost, i will hit maybe 5psi on my guage where i used to be hitting upwards of 12psi, i am inclined to think it is something simple, that i am just overlooking, I checked my air filter its not clogged, and my turbo is spinning freely, i am also smoking black, not real thick but much more then before. I'm just looking for a few suggestions as to what i should be checking.
Thanks

I'd make sure the hoses are on and all clamps tight. He may have just forgotten to tighten a clamp.
yeah I checked my clamps, I am not running an intercooler so there are really only two clamps between intake and turbo. I also checked my hoses that run from my LDA to my turbo.

Thanks for the guidence Jimfoo, i finaly tracked down the cause tonight, incompetent mechanic putting hose in wrong place.
It was simply a case of pulling the hose off, and bang my 10 missing psi were back.

Which hose was incorrectly hooked up?
It's good to know that mechanics know what they are doing.
They hooked up the line that runs of the back of the injection pump to the base of the turbo, to be honest with you guys I'm not sure where the line is supost to go, all i know is i never ran in to anywhere, and I always had 15psi, and when he hooked it up to the turbo, I struggled to get 4.
Needless to say it was this shops last chance, I will not return.
On the bright side the car is fixed, and for sale, and you guys where as helpfull and encouraging as always. Many thanks to all you guys.

If it's the line I'm thinking it is it is suppose to run from the top of the turbo to the top of the intake manifold
As long as it works though
