1993 1.9 NON turbo Transporter
« on: January 11, 2005, 10:58:47 am »
Hi Guys,

Ive got a '93 1.9 NON Turbo VW Transporter (T4). I'm having major issues with starting so I have decided to inspect/change the glow plugs........trouble is they sit right behind the radiator and the engine is titled quite a bit the gap left is pretty much non-existent !

Have anyone every tried changing these...I'm loathed to speand money get the VW garage to do what is a simple job...but I just cant see how best to get to them.

Any ideas/feedback would be great.

Thanks people.

Mark. :)

On the north american transporter the radiator is mounted on bellcranks. You need to remove the grille and a couple of bolts in the top of the radiator support, this will allow the radiator to be lifted/rotated forward to gain a bit (6" or so) of service access. You do not need to disconnect any hoses or wiring to move the rad in this fashion.
